It’s been two whole months since I’ve published my first book. It’s been a wild ride, but mostly one so positive that I think there’s still really good people out there.

In one of my first posts, I wrote about being obsessed with Kindle Direct Publishing reports. I thought I would be over them soon enough but, the truth is, I still obsess over them. I won’t say I’m constantly loading the page, but I would be lying if I told you that I’m not there at least once a day. I know it’s a futile exercise to worry about how many books people are buying or downloading as part of Kindle Unlimited program, but it’s one I’m still addicted to. Maybe I’ll always be. Maybe it only gets worse – I do need to pay my bills, after all – but at least I don’t suffer watching as the graphic goes up and down anymore.

One of the best things that happened in the past two months (besides doing what I’ve dreamed to all of my life!) is that I’ve met wonderful people online. I’m really humbled by their support and by how much they care about me and my work. It’s really wonderful to know you can have such an impact in someone else’s world, especially through words. I still consider myself an author in the making. I have much to learn and to improve. But to have this kind of support so early in my career is truly amazing. I feel I’m knitting digital friendships with people from far away, which is weird, and scary and awesome, all at the same time.

Anyway, I digress. I’m here to say thank you to all of you who have been supporting me, be it through your kind words, advice or by buying my book — yes please! :D. Here’s to many, many more months of writing and making you dream.

And don’t forget: be kind to one another. We all deserve it.

  1. Knitting digital frindships … what a great way to put it. I feel as though I know you, James. I’m one of those virtual supporters waving the flag from the sidelines as you soar. I would love to see your name in lights, or at least scratched on a million picnic tables. Same-o, same-o. Best of success. xx Your friend Erin/Bon
